CESI is KATADYN's official distributor.

KATADYN is a Swiss company, world leader in water disinfection, for people level as well of industrial level, with physical process and chemical process.

KATADN history starts with the invention of professor Alexander KRAUSE of a sterilizing system working with the diffusion of silver ions in the water.

KATADYN starts the production of ceramic filters in the 30’s. Then, in the 70’s, UV systems for the potabilization of town’s water.

In 1999, after Adrian SCHMASSMANN buy the group, then wildly restructure it, KATADYN merge its UV treatment activities with its Dutch competitor WEDECO before getting traded.

KATADYN buy two American companies : Extream and PUR Outdoor in 2001, and become the biggest builder of portable water treatment systems.

In 2004, KATADYN buy the Dutch company Trekking-Mahlzeiten GmbH. So it starts producing lyophilized food for sport practicing in wild nature.

In 2007, KATADN buy Optimus Sweden, so KATADYN can fulfill its product range with outdoor stoves.

Nowadays, KATADYN market’s shares for individual water purification systems is over 50 % ! There are:

- chemical sterilization: MICROPUR,

- sterilization by filtration, with ENDURENCE SERIES, BACKCOUNTRY, ULTRALIGHT SERIES;

- salt removal, with manual systems, or electrified systems.

Concerning industrial KATADYN range, which CESI is the official supplier, they are equipped with ceramic candles which porosity is calibrated at 0,2 µm. Different filters exist to cover a wide flow range, and can easily be set in parallel to extend this range.
